Marie-Josée Bergeron

Marie-Josée's artwork explores the intimate connection between identity and abandonment, particularly in the experience of adopted children. She captures the emotions tied to the mother-child bond while reflecting on transformation and metamorphosis, from the embryonic state to life’s constant evolution. Inspired by nature’s forces, she creates an imaginary universe as part of a spiritual quest for authenticity. Her creative process involves collecting diverse materials—tree bark, paper, metal, stone, wood, and fabric—using them to experiment with textures and layers on canvas. Through intuitive brushstrokes and a preselected palette, she allows shapes and forms to emerge spontaneously, giving life to subconscious imagery.
